Death shouldn't be a sad event, because is just part of everyone's lives.
Today, in my country, México, we held a celebration called "dia de muertos" which in english would be like "death's day".
An ancient story tells that in November 1st and 2nd, orange flowers called "cempaxóchitl" attract and guide the souls of the dead to earth once again, to join their families and spend the day together having dinner and celebrating! Reminding everyone who has lost somebody that the spirits of those who were loved are still by their side. I think this is an awesome celebration, full of meaning and culture c': so, happy day of the death everyone!
